Wowowow I am loving this. Very romantic esq, romance plots, all while discussing important issues of race and gender. Hopkins keeps you super engaged

Wow this book immerses you from the beginning. Hopkins tells us in the preface the first few chapters are based off of real events and it makes the evilness of the schemes even more appalling to the reader.

I love the moment where huck says he’ll go to hell. It’s so ironic since as a reader we know huck isn’t going to hell for opposing slavery and yet he is willing to face that assumed punishment for helping Jim escape slavery. While Huck’s reasoning is off, his conclusion isn’t.

honestly aza is a very good main character. I like how complex she is and how we’re given insight into how her mind works

Fire so far. I love aza even if she’s a little annoying at times. The book is somehow very topical and yet very much coming of age and silly at times. I love how John Green incorporates important ideas and messages into the book

Ugh I love this so far. John Green is insanely good at capturing the narrator’s OCD and anxiety. It somehow mixes the seriousness of various topical subjects with the warm and welcoming feel of a YA novel. I’m excited to see where this goes

This section has actually been very interesting. The only thing I’m disliking is these long letter with super tiny font. The story given by Bob Martin is important in highlighting black voices, but at the same time, it makes me wonder why Tourgée only spotlights black voices when there is white supremacist violence

I’m liking comfort a bit more but he’s still very ignorant and just ignores the consequences of his actions. I’m interested as to why there are so many letters imbedded within the text.
