This book made me anxious.

“She loved Nell and she hated her: two things can be true at once”. A reminder that humans are complicated and messy. Growing up beside someone sometimes leaves you nowhere to hide.

I felt the same at the beginning of this book as I did at the end. The short chapters made it hard to find a good rhythm. I liked the poetic way of writing but felt minimal connection to the characters. There were parts that physically made me screw up my face which I think had the desired effect.
