Wells writes a fictional account of what is essentially the first splitting of the atom, by a character named Holsten. Bear in mind that he wrote this book in 1913. Holsten writes in his journal that he, “Felt like an imbecile who has presented a box full of loaded revolvers to a Creche.”

Wells knew what was up long before most people.

This just went from Blade Runner to Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe.

So far this reminds me of Make Room! Make Room! (aka Soylent Green), in that it’s much less like the movie than I expected… but more interesting.

Sounds like the Silo is an awful lot like Eden. Don’t you dare ask questions or want more.

Watched "These Are The Damned" (1962) starring Oliver Reed, Shirley Anne Field, and Macdonald Carey. What a bleak little film.

Finally watched "Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein," the last hurrah of the Universal Monster Cycle and the only one I had never seen. I enjoyed it... too bad it had Abbott and Costello in it, though.

Every character and scenario in this book is a stereotype, but it’s hilarious!

I’m watching the season finale of Pluribus — don’t worry, no spoilers — and the main character is reading The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. LeGuin!

I have the distinct impression that I'm not going to be satisfied with the ending of this book, nor the lack of answers.
