Its so crazy the last public beheading in french algeria was in 1939

Using a criminal trial to talk about existential issues is genius (kafka)

The description of him as a swirling river of colors was awesome

The shooting section was really compelling - the discription of how Meursault's view of the beach changes was so cool.

Meursault is/wants to be a "pure externality"?

Def colonial - All the Pieds-noirs are described in some individual way (the beautiful woman, the old man, the soccer player...) while the arabs are only ever described as arabs.

This seems a bit heavy-handed so far but I am liking it. Ch2 was really cool - just a dude drifting around doing random stuff. Is the dog and the old man a master-slave dialectic thing?

I wish the author understood math better.

a-b\neq b-a is a poor example of non-commutativity, and the elementary proof of the PNT is not a particularly helpful proof (although it is interesting)
