I have to put this book down—not because it is bad, but because it is too raw, too anxiety-inducing. And I cannot really sit comfortably with the question “Will I ever be alright?”

A woman sexually obsessed with planes? I have to read it!

I find Maguire's sentence structures challenging and often need to reread passages to grasp his meaning. His sarcasm sometimes makes it hard to decipher his point, but it also prompts deep reflection about life, marginalization, and one’s own position in the world. In this way, I am not only exploring Oz and meeting charming characters but also questioning societal norms.

Sherry Pinkwhistle girly is so unserious, I’m laughing and crying at the same time

This instantly reminded me of Miss Marple, charming and cozy.

This book is surprisingly good! It's about a woman in her 40s who is unapologetically gross, pathetic, and unhinged af.

I find her dilemma quite similar to Dorothea Brooke in Middlemarch. How can women in the Victorian England "chase that fame" when they cannot hold important social and political positions?

This book is much dismal than I expected, with D.H. Lawrence calling this generation of mankind as "half-corpse". And true, the characters seem as they're half-dead, and their lonesomeness seeps through the pages.

I kinda wanna DNF this because I'm too scared to continue. I just wanted to try reading horror books so I picked this up, but I can't anymore. I'm too easily spooked 😱😱😱

This book reeks of bad decisions.

Cuckoos lay their own eggs in other birds' nests to trick them to care for their cuckoo-chicks. These birds, unaware that they have been duped, sacrifice their energy and time to feed and care for a ruthless imposter. They call this brood parasitism. The Midwick Cuckoos alludes to this--a silver object appeared in the village, then all women are discovered to be pregnant, they became "host" to these babies.

So eerily true! And I'm so frustrated right now because I still do not know why K. has to endure this trial at all. The absurdity of it!

A linguistic adventure!

I didn't expect this book to be so funny!

Oh, the rage! I can feel it in my bones.
Scarlett is female rage personified. She is certainly unhinged, but who wouldn't be??!!
As much as I love the story so far, it saddens me how most, if not all, women can relate, one way or another, to the experiences of the women in this book. I hope the justice system is as ruthless as Scarlett to abusers.
