I may not have ever watched AMC's The Terror but as someone who keeps picking up books clearly written by fans of it I like to consider myself something of an ally.

This is so short it feels silly not to finish but I find the main character such a slog it's been difficult

I don’t think I’m particularly precious about “the craft” when it comes to a page turner but sometimes you can really feel that characters in this are doing or saying things not because of characterization but to simply to put another track down for the rails of the story and it’s… disconcerting
