I don’t think I’m particularly precious about “the craft” when it comes to a page turner but sometimes you can really feel that characters in this are doing or saying things not because of characterization but to simply to put another track down for the rails of the story and it’s… disconcerting

Would love any recs that are fun, low effort easy listening that also doesn’t have characters that feel too stupid to live would be greatly appreciated. I’m currently updating spreadsheets at work and am in desperate need.
