Ruthanne Hendry… even after giving this character a name the author insists on calling her “the Black woman” for several more lines. It never ceases to amaze me how many white authors never see the need to describe the race of characters unless they are non white. It reinforces how a narrow paradigm automatically “others” people who don’t share the same race. Funny, when people claim not to see color.
