This is a nightmare

I think this book is the exact noise it condemns in a concentrated dose

At multiple points so far, I felt like I was reading a fucking horror novel.

"Had he been laughed at, to adopt the Freudian theory, in his cradle by a pretty girl?"

And then she says he must've been an ugly baby

Absolutely roasting misogynists

"Based on his liberal use of the semi-colon I just assumed this date would go well"
Sweet Thing be honest; are semi-colons charming?

The shift in tone from setting up this dramatic setting to read this psycho sexual whatever is going on to the protagonist saying "You are a desirable woman. You are not a dozen gerbils in a skin casing" is pretty funny.

Sometimes I find protagonists talking about just how awkward they are a little grating. The timing for this instance towed that line perfectly. I mean, enough that I had to immediately write this

I do really feel for Graham, he is still kind of fucking himself in the ass with learned helplessness.

"Could a woman he could barely see be sultry across fourty feet of grass, as she spoke to a lawyer on a walk at an Inn of Court?
"...yes she could..."
"...How had bookish, prudish old Henry come up with a sultry bride?"

Graham we just got a play by play of you driving yourself insane.
