The shift in tone from setting up this dramatic setting to read this psycho sexual whatever is going on to the protagonist saying "You are a desirable woman. You are not a dozen gerbils in a skin casing" is pretty funny.

Sometimes I find protagonists talking about just how awkward they are a little grating. The timing for this instance towed that line perfectly. I mean, enough that I had to immediately write this
