Recently returned from New Orleans where I couldn't stop thinking about this book so I'm reading it again. So. Fucking. Good.

How did they convince Jonathan Franzen to read the Mission of Burma chapter and all its wonky rock journalist descriptions of guitar effects?

Pettibon, Wittgenstein, Eco, Joyce. This is exactly what I signed up for!

Maybe it's me but there are some very unusual pairings in the audio version of Our Band Could Be Your Life. For instance, Corey Taylor's reading of the Black Flag chapter was not what I expected. It's kind of flat and uninspired TBH. Someone should have helped homeboy with the pronunciation. But Jeff Tweedy absolutely nailed The Minutemen chapter. Next up: Jonathan Franzen reading Mission of Burma? Srsly?

Ben Loory was right: this book is astonishing.

I keep reading "Sensini" over and over again.

Astonishing.

A dense, disturbing, claustrophobic, and hilarious novel.

Astonishing what Varo went through to flee first from Spain and then from France. Such a broken world full of abject cruelty.

This has been on my shelf for ages and this year I swore I'd read it.

Fascinating, but dense. So many dreams...
