i love love love this book’s writing style, especially how the feelings are described so well they feel so real, so concrete, so mine. it also stays true with the main character’s first person pov and keeps making me reflect on so many different themes like social justice and violence and the environment.

everyone be quiet my favorite show is on!!

i cannot say anything negative about this book so far. i’ve been highlighting nearly every page and savoring how skillfully it is crafted. it is so unique and has such a distinctive style, but at the same time i feel like it references so many different genres and themes used in the past. it definitely has the potential to become a modern classic!! also it’s such an interesting experience to read it as a teen

totally in my jane austen era

I feel like the author’s characterization of Emma and her father is pretty interesting. The way Mr Woodhouse is unable to understand others and believes they must feel and think what he feels and thinks. The way Emma “philanthropically” decides to get involved in Harriet’s life and immediately tries to change its trajectory for what she’s convinced is the best. I’m eating it up.

- i’d like to see something new and fresh for chaol, because the whole “i feel sorry for myself” situation is getting a bit too boring
- i would LOVE to learn something more about nesryn apart from the fact that she’s really 1) attached to her family 2) good at fighting
i feel like they could be more developed and i hope sjm doesn't attempt to do so only by giving them love interests
