Aaaahhhhhh!!!! AO3 is down! Nooooooooo.

I did something really stupid, which was starting this captivating book when I didn’t have time to binge and finish a captivating book!

No idea what page I’m actually on, but I am at chapter 34. Really trying to figure out a way to reconcile what my personal belief is on sexual assault and what’s being sold to me here.

I’m not really feeling the need for closure on this one; I just don’t care how it ends because I am absolutely not feeling any emotional or physical chemistry here. At 81% completion, this is not a good sign...

At almost halfway through, there is no sense of chemistry between the two mains. I don’t even get a sense that they like each other all that much and I don’t particularly like either one of them, either. The next 60% is going to be a bumpy ride for me, but I’ve DNF’d too many books lately to give up now. Grammatically, this isn’t horrible, but it reads like a diary in a way...a lot of tell, little show.

There is some stuff happening here that was spoiled for me since I read ‘Solve for i’ first. While ‘Solve for i’ can be read as a stand-alone, I don’t recommend it if you want to read ‘Under My Skin’ and ‘Flesh and Blood.’ Even though the main in 1 and 2 is different from the main in 3, too much that seems innocuous happens in Gemma’s story...things that are so far pretty big plot lines in ‘Flesh and Blood.’

Two things...1. the writing in this is already better than ‘Touch.’ 2. it may take me forever to get through this. I’m going to Anchorage in September and at every other paragraph, I’m inspired to look something up. I’ve looked up moose, cabins, hiking, northern lights, highway system, and kayaking. Really, I think I just wanna land and stare at the pretty mountains without getting lost or trashing my rental car.

Wow...now this is f’ing world-building...and this is putting the reader on the edge of their seat. Just...wow.

Don’t think I’m going to make it passed chapter 2 in this book. I’m almost to the point of loathing the MC and am finding it hard not to get annoyed at the long narrative-type way this is written, like I’m reading a creepy bedtime story to myself.

This is the s-l-o-w-e-s-t start ever...two days and I’m only at 20%?! Wtf is going on? Reviewers said this was hard to get into and they weren’t wrong. I’m going to keep trying, but this may land in my DNF pile soon...

Broken. On hold until I decide to join KU again.
