It's kind of interesting so far. Timeloops are always good but not really unique and this hasn't done anything differently yet. I'm just not sure what it's trying to do or is going for at the moment.

Pretty bland. Not enough conflict or comedy or inner reflection from Kyon. They kind of just make a movie and that's it. I wish it leaned more into the supernatural stuff or their relationships. It just doesn't do enough for me, and only now at 80% will something significant mayyyybe happen.

Starting to enjoy it more. The themes of (what I'm guessing are) law, justice and class are coming into play. The storytelling has shifted more towards actual events instead of tangents and random stories, but even the tangents that are there are entertaining.

Not a fan of the storytelling style. This is a good example of the difference between visual media like movies, tv shows etc, and books. Even from the first two pages there are a billion names or random ass people that I can't keep track of and a million details I don't care about. But appreciating the details in books is something I'm trying to learn. I guess this book will be a stepping stone towards that.

I think the issue right now is that the primary conflict has shifted from the game to the corrupt organisation. The mystery and mechanics of the Easter egg is the hook, the whole point. But that's easily dealt with and being put aside for these Sixers.

It's really dropped in quality. It got sidetracked by this cheesy romance with Art3mis that I don't care about. Then proceeded to give me a detailed daily routine for this guy. Then he gets the location of the Jade key in an email and obtains it. That's it. Underwhelming.

It's trying to convince me that things are heating up, but they aren't. Q has no reason to care about this girl he didn't speak to for years this much, she's obviously not dead, I don't really care about "who she truly is", there's a bunch of running and around and searching without progress or a point. It just feels very mild and meandering. Like it's padding out its length to a full novel.

I feel like it's missing tone right now. It's not too funny or serious, and the setting isn't strong. It's just kind of bland. Margo is about the only thing in the book with any flavour, which is kind of intentional, but makes everything without her boring.

Not sure I like this plot event. Feels like a forced way to add stakes. I mean Wade seems barely effected by dozens of his neighbours just being bombed. And I think the violence detracts from the heart of the story. But I guess it is a little exciting. It does feel like it's forcing itself towards a hunger games situation. Plus the forced romance. It's like it doesn't believe the game story alone is good enough.

Thing have heated up, and all the pieces are coming together. The thorough worldbuilding before is now being put to use. I'm curious to see how the society of this world is affected by these changes, especially the involvement of the IOI. But I do hope the romance subplot doesn't take the front stage and distract from the monstrous plot that has more than enough meat on it already.

He finally found the copper key. It was a little anticlimactic, in my opinion. People spend years and years trying to figure this out and it turned out to be a small latin translation and a tiny bit of puzzle solving. Not really a grand reveal. And the dungeon itself was, well, fine. But, still, what a cool premise and concept.

So far the worldbuilding is leaving the plot in the dust. This feels like those games you'd read a bunch of wiki pages on, but doesn't have a great story. I mean, I'm like 22k words in and so far the MC has left his house, gone to school, met a friend, and that's about it. Everything else has been exposition and context. Really wish it would prioritise the story more and get it rolling.

Didn't continue for a long time, so I re-read it from the start back up to this point. My opinion hasn't changed much, so there isn't anything to say.

Interesting premise but virtually zero plot so far. Don't care about any of the character nor the prose. Just seems like a 'what if' without any idea of 'what then'.

I'm almost a fifth into the book, thinking it's boring as hell. And I heard there was a movie. I load up the movie and in 4 minutes, literally 4, they blitz through everything I just read. 4 minutes. A fifth of the book. I'm really struggling to read books right now because they all take sooo much time to get anywhere. Man oh man . . .
