can I just say how hard it is to balance books I want to read vs books/texts I need to read for school?? I love some good YA lit (especially kwame alexander like come ONNN) but at the same time I have so many adult books/classics I want to read, too! but I also want to be able to recommend current/good ya books to my students! the struggle is real.

re-reading this one with the same bestie I read it with for the first time in 6th grade :) excited to chat about some things I’m noticing now that i didn’t when I was a kid.

without a doubt 100% deserving of the national book award (so far)

If this book weren’t 400 pages I’d LOVE to teach it. I’d love to teach a dystopian lit class (both ya and adult) exploring the criteria of dystopian lit and its cultural commentary/significance.

just started a new book but this one was finally ready on libby & I had to start it

reading this in 6ELA from March-May! wore my camp half-blood shirt to school today and a kid thought I actually went there.

I think the world needs to hear more giant octopuses speak their mind about how ridiculous it is that so many humans perceive ignorance to be quirky and funny.
