There are big chunky books that you pick them up and start reading and you realize, despite their massive size, you don’t want them to end. This is one of those!

چیزی که از این کتاب داره اذیتم می‌کنه اینه که یه سری شخصیتا ساخته شدن فقط تا موراکامی بتونه از زبون اونا با مخاطبش حرف بزنه. شخصیت ۱۵ ساله‌اش هم که به اندازه یه فیلسوف مسن آشنایی داره با فلسفه و ادبیات و با وجود اینکه پونزده سالشه هم به موسیقی آشناعه، هم از تکنولوژی قدیمی سر در میاره.
نویسنده خیلی جاها به جای اینکه داستان رو نشونمون بده می‌خواد برامون توضیحش بده.
انتظار یه چیز رئال ندارم واقعاً ولی کامان.

برگردیم به اون زمان که ترجمه‌هامون می‌تونست این شکلی باشه.

از‌ متن کتاب: «او در کالج یونانی لاتین، تاریخ، ادبیات، علم، ریاضیات و فلسفه آموخته بود. از میان این آموخته‌ها، تنها ریاضیات بود که در لافلاش درست آموزانده می‌شد،...»
آموزانده می‌شد؟
مثلاً استاد بیاد سر کلاس بگه: «امروز می‌خوام درست ترجمه کردن رو بهتون بیاموزانم»
به نظر می‌رسه این درس رو غایب بودی آقای پرویز بابایی.

باورم نمیشه بالاخره تمومش کردم. کتاب کوچولو و کوتاهیه ولی من چند ماهی بعد از شروع کردنش ازش دور بودم و انقدر درگیر کتابای دیگه شدم که فکر کردم هیچ وقت نمی‌رسم بهش سر بزنم دوباره. چقد این کتاب رو دوست داشتم ولی. یه ریویو خوب به زودی براش می‌نویسم.

(نسخه‌ای که از روش خوندم یه نسخه زردِ زردِ زرد از زمان شاهه که از انقلاب خریدم بیست تومن. انقد ورقاش کهنه و شکننده شدن که با ورق زدن هم ریسک پاره شدنشون وجود داشت.)

از متن کتاب:
«او در یکی از معدود نامه‌هایی که از وی باقی مانده می‌گوید که وی در آغاز تمام راه‌های ممکن برای توقف انحطاط اخلاق عمومی و خصوصی را مورد توجه قرار می‌داد.»
این دومین کتاب با ترجمه‌ی داغونی هست که این ماه می‌خونم. گمونم دارم تاوان ترجمه‌های ضعیف اوایل کار خودمو پس می‌دم.

I feel like I'm discovering a new favourite author little by little.

تا آخر داستان counterparts خوندم. تا اینجا داستان‌ها اینجوری بودن که انگار خب که چی؟ یه داستان رو می‌خونی بعد از خودت می‌پرسی الان چیکارش کنم، چی شد مثلاً. ولی در عمل می‌دونی کلی نماد و نشونه‌ گوشه موشه‌های داستان قایم شده که تو تا یه تحلیل و چهار تا نقد از داستان نخونی نمی‌بینیشون. جیمز جویس لذت داستان خوندن رو به نظرم از آدم می‌گیره. داستان خوندن رو تبدیل می‌کنه به کلاس درس، به حل پازل و معما... که در نوع خوش جالبه

At this point, I'm numb.

Apparently the sad parts have not begun yet and already it's so depressing to read each word of this novel.

Okay I'm getting a little worried. I knew that reading this book is going to be a very traumatic experience and although nothing has happened yet in the story, the writing is so good that makes me feel like when the the trauma kicks in, it will be extra difficult to deal with.

It really took me an hour to finish two pages. Every line is infused with a whole reading list of mythology and history. I have a pdf of this book called "Ulysses annotated" that's helping me understand these references. I have to admit, I'm learning a lot but it's all stuff that I do not much care about, therefore I'm not sure if it will remain in my memory for a long time.

This copy I'm reading has this terrible illustrations that just kill the image you have created in your head while reading. Good thing I don't know how to attach images here otherwise I'd willingly give you new nightmare material.

Only 50 pages in and I already know this book is going to change how I see literature.

Fuck it. I'm not torturing myself anymore with this book.

I was not expecting a comedy this old to make me laugh but it actually did.

As the name suggests, it is indeed very short. And that up to this point has been what I love the most about it. I'm finally seeing why some of the big names in English literature have become so big.

How did anyone find this book attractive is beyond me. You have to have read very average novels before this to find it interesting. Up to this point, every chapter has been repetition of the same moods and feelings. I just hope it gets better later on because I'm not in the habit of leaving books unread.
