So far this book reminds me a bit of 'Why Fish Don't Exist' but slightly less scholarly. An easy read so far though part of it feels veryyyyy Scandinavian. I think it's the sentence structure.

This book is wayyyy worse than I thought:
"By the time Blue Shirt had uttered the second syllable of the word white men have invoked for centuries to degrade Black men, Bonnie was already on him." p53
Some of the writing is so wattpad its crazy

I've always heard lots about this book, the impact of it in general American society, and how groundbreaking it was. I'm really enjoying it! Some of it is still very relevant and I think it's quite accessibly written!

"Lucky darted toward the exit and pulled the silver lever, that curious object of agency unique to Paris's metro, and the train doors sprang apart." p 13

--> Can anyone write normally about Paris please bc wtf is this. Reminds of of Almost Life and giving the vibe I went to Paris and need everyone to know

been loving this read!!! Very glad I waited until summer to read because I love it with the weather

So glad I left my job because the existential dread of work, the workplace, really echoes with me

Been wanting to read this book for so long and finally picked it up!! So good!

Maybe I’m not feeling the imagery and writing style right now

Love the horse motif!!

Some lines are bangers, some lines are weirdly horny: "the girls strive to be like their giant, freckled teacher with a big mouth, the boys will look for lovers a head taller than they are and dream of the red fire of an inaccessible pubis."

great start to the book and so relatable...

Pretty good so far, lots of side plots and scheming! Sad I couldn't find this book in French though, double translation is always susceptible to loosing meaning.

This book is actually so fun and amazing to read. Really loving the humour, descriptions, and beautiful prose along with the main character. I'm stopping myself from reading it too quickly because it's just that good and I want to savour it.

Her mentioning EU grants all the time is so funny to me

I've never read Huckleberry Finn so some of this may not be as impactful

This is a fun read

almost done with this banger of a book. So frustrating reading how nazis just continued to live normally and get absorbed by the post-war german state
