Eat the rich!…but also lowkey kinda wanna cry…

The moment epilepsy, schizophrenia, and convulsion therapy are all mentioned in the same paragraph I knew the faint little hope I had for a happy ending was doomed to crash and burn. Wasn’t expecting really interesting psychology in this book, also wasn’t expecting it to destroy me.

Surprisingly very interesting. I was a bit worried I wouldn’t like this book because who it’s following but I happy to say that this is a beautiful written and entertaining piece of fiction. I keep having to remind myself that it is indeed fiction because of how realistically the story is told…like someone really is recounting these aristocrats lives.

Ugh I love this book and I feel so bad for Crane…my boy…

Oh Crane…I have never felt such a deep and morbid connection to a character in my life. The fact that if I was in the situation in any capacity, even without all the messed up politics and drama and sci-fi cult stuff, I would also be feeling the way Crane feels. It’s a punch to the gut and perfectly described the horror that is pregnancy…at least how I feel about pregnancy

The more I read the more I love. I’m honestly shocked this is rated so low, guess weird cosmic horror lit with sapphic smut isn’t for everyone but I’m all in baby

I am shocked to say that so far I’m liking my reading experience with this book so far. It’s fatal flaw it’s it repetitive length. I haven’t gotten at any SA scenes yet but I’m curious to see how it’s handled…there’s a lot of conflicting feelings about the way this book handles its topics and scenes and a point is docked because the warning is in the back of the book for some reason.

I was scared because the reviews for this book for lower than I thought they would be. As someone who is getting into the mythos of the King in Yellow I was hoping that this queer story would sate me till I could read the original. And I have to say so far not disappointed, this is deliciously messy but I can see why people may not vibe with it.

The quiet horror of this book mixed with the longing and hunger of being a woman is unparalleled in this book. The problems that I had with the original Carmilla has been quickly snuffed out with this reimagine/retelling.

Already I am loving this book much more than the original Carmilla. Who knew that if a woman writes a story about women all of a sudden it’s a thousand times better.

Also I’m calling this her fuck ass husband is poisoning her….i hope he dies
