My feelings about this book are so mixed, thus far.
Am I supposed to believe that all the other concubines are stupid? They all witnessed the prince’s <spoiler>rather blatant desire to disrespect the selection ceremony in any way possible, and I felt that this being his motivation for choosing our protagonist in that moment was pretty clear. </spoiler>
It makes it hard for me to take their jealousy seriously.
