a much needed wlw break from the emotional roller coaster that is normal people

I’m starting to think Connell and Marianne are and will always be soulmates no matter which sort of relationship they find themselves to be in, together or with others. They share a connection that is so rare and precious though they’re so not aware of it and I find it beautiful bc it means that they can always be each other’s person. That is love, in a a way. In their way.

“I’m not a religious person but I do sometimes think that God made you for me” I’M SORRY MISS SALLY ROONEY?? wtf i just had to sit still in silence on a random chair at the airport, speechless and stunned by that very sentence. You have no idea how important and meaningful and painful it is and how flawlessly it depicts their relationship of whatever the hell the thing going on between them is.

we have a reunion. we have the iconic motion sickness sound from tiktok. we have nostalgia and bittersweet reminiscing. we have a change in their personality and social status. quite literally a flip, which i found very peculiar. we started to learn more about Marianne’s mental health.

I can’t focus on ONE way of interpreting this book. there are so many theories and points of view and tangled feelings to unpack. I read a chapter in an hour. 8 pages. I annotated sooo much, it’s crazy how thoughts just keep flowing through my brain and on the paper. I feel like i need a 2week vacation to process all that i’ve read so far. this last chapter was SO DAMN RELATABLE!
