I don’t understand half of every page (“Icebox parenting” “Helen Gurley was the Machiavelli to Joan Rivers’s Hobbes” and references to about 20 TV shows I haven’t seen) but she has many interesting points (“Bigotry is resilient, because rejecting it often means rejecting your own family” and her defense of TV as a serious medium) without softening the themes the shows deal with (un/fuckability, sexism). Nice
