Jury’s still out on whether this is actually helpful or just 300 pages of words about words

The issue with children’s literature is that there are only two review types.
The kids’ reviews are like 4th grade summaries.
The parents’ reviews are all complaining about the repeated use of “freaking.” Sorry but that’s how the author alienates the child from his mother. It’s the freaking point.
Sorry you won’t let your kid read it till they’re in their “mid-teens.” A 3rd grade novel???

I can’t take this book anywhere because it’s so huge and heavy. So I can’t ever read it.
0/10 for succinctness.

Stephen King thinks a 17 year old in 2022 would say “snail mail.” I’m 18 and I usually call it mail.

Good god I haven’t heard “snail mail” used since an old elementary substitute started lamenting our lack of knowledge about every historical event that took place before we were born. I was like 12 and barely knew how to type an email, either.

I think John Green might convince me to stop giving things star ratings.

Also this book is not at all what I expected, and also I love it so far

I might dnf this one

How am I supposed to know what an antimacassar is. How does the PROTAGONIST know what that is.

Vivisecting. Waxwork. Burnished with imperiousness. She had experience dealing with irritating men. She could picture his teeth (and can’t see them while he’s talking?!) Damask. Flirtatiousness.

When you give an AI a thesaurus.
