Picking this back up after leaving its progress at 50% for half a year took its toll 💬🤔😵‍💫😅 But its return >is< proving meritorious! James’ writing is magical and I’m glad I gave it a chance again.

Chapter 6 (where Marilla decides about keeping Anne) is such a moving chapter. The found/unconventional family dynamic Lucy brews is so stunning for the unexpected beauties and joys the trio bring about in each other. Anne’s vibrant force and jubilance the last place to looked to for a haven of Matthew’s coy — & long-unaddressed — fellowship; Marilla’s shrewd, deep respect for Matthew’s scarce will; …

Slowly starting to convince me there might be more up its sleeve than I would have initially suspected! 👀 (Which was that it was to be the sum total of fun-yet-vacuous amalgamated cliche tropes.) But we'll see ...

Although Goodreads has this story divided into 8 volumes, I'm reading its web-version, which is essentially an omnibus, continuous edition of the tale. As such, I am unaware of how to parse my reading into Goodreads' formal indication and will treat the first volume entry as my progress through the story's entirety.

Although I'm not as naturally inclined to graphic literature, and have experienced some...(comments)

This book, even with mere momentum, has rapid-fired off a variety of differentia in startling succession, making this very undertaking of documenting its initial impression downright formidable. Imminently — that is, without gradation into the the book’s content or world —, did I find myself astounded. Even here, where I am, before the story has really even taken off, it has taken shape. I’m usually quite averse to any graphic form of novel. I prefer the steadiness of prose; conjoining narrative modes often dizzy me and require far more work to mount. I’m really glad to be branching out with CT and pushed to finish it. If it weren’t for book club, I definitely would have given up early on and thus forgone the intricately crafted story that’s been commendably meticulous in its unfolding.

My initial impressions convene around the ethos of our protagonist's voice. The writing employs a distinct, consistent style to characterize a pure way of seeing the world. P doesn't describe, but declares, erudition striking harmony with inveterate faith. Charm and remedy abound in our inclusion to an outlook of profound reverence toward what would otherwise remain mundane and unremarkable in their recognition.

Reaching the close of the sequence of Darcy’s first proposal attempt is the same as that of completing a marathon. I know because I’ve done both.

I can’t wait to write my review on this. Jane Austen’s storytelling is crack and this book has thus far been such a delight.
