At about halfway the bad accents are ruining the story. I can't believe this narrator is a dialect coach; she can't stay in one region and her supposed Australian accent is terrible. It sounds like a cross between NZ and London, with weird emphasis on the word 'it', and pronouncing anything that ends in ed, et or it with a strong it sound. Minute becomes minit, endid, expectid etc. It is so grating.

Sanderson is not one to write a paragraph when he can write pages of dull dialogue or shy from belabouring a point. I have only persevered after reading a summary that sounded like a good story. Unfortunately, Sanderson is so hell-bent on providing swathes of unnecessary detail it gets in the way of the story itself. With good editing, this could have been a cracking good >400 pager.
