really enjoying dis book it’s giving i have to dive deeper into french existentialism & its forerunners (but that would mean reading more Nietzsche and Heidegger. I hate reading Nietzsche and Heidegger)

first few chapters are sick & consistently eye opening, author’s personal opinion & biases are too prevalent from like chapter 2 of part 2

reeaaall dense read so far but dostoevsky’s an absolute poet and so good at conveying ideas in narrative

the philosophical, religious and moral ideas he’s talking about are so tightly interlinked with the story that it never feels there’s any preaching going on or sacrifices are being made to the narrative to accommodate ideas (looking at you song of achilles)

if humans were made in god’s image does god wear cool outfits and nice jewellrey

this is the greatest piece of media/art/anything ever i have ever consumed
pages 319-322 are absolutely incredible and beautifully written and so poetic and so narratively perfect
there’s a moment where the language shifts so subtly from first person to third oh my god this book is absolutely ridiculous it’s almost 5am i’m screaming and crying akdjdiwofnf

on pace to be my favourite book of all time

classic murakami, describes feelings of freedom and isolation in ways only he could

and also spends 1 1/2 pages describing the breast size and shape of an individual who is potentially the main character’s sister
