Rob is on page 118 of Dig a Little Deeper (Keyhole Crime)
Ursula was apparently not a big fan of writing in active voice.

Not off to a great start with a fight scene out of a direct-to-video action movie and its predictable denouement, establishing two of the main characters as uninteresting stock. Crossing my fingers that it turns around.

Thus far, this is the most solid adaptation of a Doctor Who teleplay that I have read. Hayles, who sadly died in 1978, was a master of his craft, his language doing a good job of driving me forward.

I usually dread reading role-playing books, mired in pretention, game mechanics, and elf supremacist propaganda, but Eat the Reich? You have to love a game that offers BDSM safety guidelines as a means of negotiating emotionally uncomfortable themes with the players.

I was a little surprised to see that Mr. Dunnington's takeaway from the Kinks' "Lola," was "what Lola wants, Lola gets." Hard to reconcile the man described in this book with that song.

2/3rds of the way done now and I do have to say that Spitzer can keep you turning the page. Every story thus far has described a woman's death; if the academics accused Poe of misogyny. I'm afraid to read what they would say about Spitzer.

As I read--and I am nearly 1/4th into book--quick notes:
-thematically, even as Godzilla began as a cautionary about dangers of abusing atomic/nuclear energy, Kings leans into time reclaiming the Earth if humanity continues to ignore its history
-anthology told in multiple 1st person POVs: jarring transitioning into new stories
-teen guide can't i.d. Jimmy Carter, says "detritus?" Needs to rethink language choices

Rob is finished with Some New Kind of Kick
I was initially a little concerned about all of the name dropping, especially as this seems to be a quilt woven of one experience after another time with very little reflection on what those incidents meant to him. However, after poking around a little bit online, the name-dropping is not pretention. Kid Congo Powers has known a lot of people.

@RobZombie did author the introduction, but editors @KerryGammill and @JDavidSpurlock need the credit for curating this book and piecing together Basil's life in art and on this Earth for the readers' consumption.

I am frequently distracted by lower order concerns that should have been caught during revision, like how in Australia it's illegal to dress like "Batman and robin." This could've been better than a book of lists. Joshi could have spent a little more time and told his readers whether or not these laws have been repealed or are still weird laws today. Happily, this was a bday gift so I didn't spend any money on it.
