ARC for meee!

I forgot this came out today! I always do this. Time to START!

Most people in this book are kind of assholes.

Jesus Christ, Gwen, this isn't something that requires a "second chance," so I don't know WTF you are talking about with "third chances."

I feel like I'm reading this book at this point to see if it's going to fall flat on its face and it only has 30% left to not do so. I don't see how it can pull off everything it's trying to juggle in that amount.

Author mixed up character names here, "Marcus" should be "Dante."

Noooope, I don't like Professor Danvers as an educator and the fact that Gwen/Gwendolyn us made comfortable by the Profs behavior displeases me. Will this turn around?

And now we're seeing a secondary character dealing with racism and obvious, insensitive white characters. Can this book chew what it bit off?!

It feels weird to have this book say "‘WELCOME CLASS OF 2020"

I would have liked it better if it had said "Welcome Freshmen" or something. This dates the book unnecessarily.

Well, sounds like Professor Danvers is an ableist, classist twit. The question is, will this be addressed, ignored, or presented as a positive?

This book has a lot of sex in it feels disconnected from the rest of the plot. Like, sometimes books have lots of sex and whether that's your taste, it fits the book. Here it feels kind of like it belongs in another story.

I am enjoying this book an incredible amount.

I live in Metro Minnesota, so everything is slowing way down on reading. I'm safe but other things are taking my time. I'll try to be more active when I'm able to do so.

If this book involves, "And happiness comes from not being disabled anymore," I'm going to be really unhappy.

I have to agree with Zeb that this is a real bad time to choose to have this conversation.

I need a book about Max. NEED.

I may send this back to the library, even though I intend to finish it eventually; there's a waiting list and the people on it are probably pretty eager. People who want to read it right now should be able to get it and I'm being rather slow. I'll revisit when things calm down.

I tried doing a text search on the other book for "Bowen" and nothing showed up, so either the search didn't work or the reason I don't remember Bowen from the other book is because he isn't actually in it. Victory for me if that's the case!

I'm almost certainly going to have to really pull down my reading goal this year. Everything That Is Happening has tanked my ability to read, oddly enough. You'd think that all the enforced inside time would mean more reading, but oddly enough, no.

I hate forgetting names/who people are in books. I'm going to have to grab the previous book and jog my memory on "Bowen."

There seems to be a Kindle Unlimited deal going on where (if I am understanding it) you can get 2-months free. Other than current members not being able to get it, I'm not sure about eligibility requirements. The deal apparently goes until April 30.

Another book I'm feeling fairly positive about for professional development. I *might* buy it, but I'm not sure yet.

So, because of school/work wildness, my getting reviews done is probably going to take a hit.

I haven't read this book before, I watched the movie, but my perspective on the subject matter has really changed. I guess I've become more cynical about humanity. It used to feel more unrealistic than it does now. Arg.

Another book for class. Will I survive this semester? Will my brain melt? I be left with a fear of books afterwards? We Shall See.

Adults can get so obsessed with certain aspects of young people's lives (grades, classes, tests, attendance, college) that they forget that there are really huge, other issues that can make these aspects become so small so fast.
