Not bad read.

Surprisingly good, considering I'm not the target audience.

Okay I see why it accrued such acclaims when it came out. What a fortunate and opportune time for JK Rowling to publish it cause w this series it's all about the time it came out.

And they say luck isn't real.

That's a good ending despite this book feeling like a drag at times. Hobb made so frustrated with her characters especially, Fitz and still made fall in love with the RoTE 🫠.

Fuck Verity and everyone who didn't bat an eye for laying Fitz on the sacrificial slab though.

Also, I don't know how to feel about the sex thing Verity did. You know with and how 😐.

Just when I was starting to give up on this series. I enjoyed Baptism of Fire the most since I started the main novels of the series.

Absolute fine read.

The ending was kinda meh. This is one of the rare case, where I think the adaptation is much better than the book.

Has important themes to discuss though.

Watching the show first helped a lot strangely with this book while it's the opposite for the other books. Solely because the show provides more context and a broader view than the book.

Religion in the wrong hands is a massive destruction.

The most incompetent assassin ever. It's comedy fest here.

Idk why Fitz just doesn't use his skill or wit on his enemies? You'd think some brawls he'd been in, he'd desperately use every resource at his disposal.

Unfortunately, I think this might be the weakest in the trilogy

Once you get the idea that the titles of this trilogy don't correlate to the story and Fitz is no assassin at all, it's a good read.

Also, the realisticness of the characters is too much on the nose but that's what Hobb excels at. Portraying an emotional rollercoaster of a story.

WTF!!! WAS THAT ENDING??!!!!🫒🀯. people were actually telling the truth when they said GS is miles better than RR.

The avalanche of the plot twists had me gripping onto rails. What was in this. Finally Darrow has crazy opponents instead of ploughing through everything.

This is how a YA love story should be done. Simple, realistic and without cringy dramatics and antics.

Somehow I thought it'd be sci-fi YA with sprinkles of first love, coming of age, family, cozy etc.

Good but great.

3/5 Stars.

This might be the most realistic portrayal of teenagers in YA I have ever seen 🀯. So realistic it's fucking relatable.

YA authors should take notes fr πŸ’―.

I can see why many people gush about this book. It captures the authentic experience of teens, first love, family dynamics, identity discovery and so on.

For some reason, I thought it would be sci-fi-ish or at least something out of the ordinary. This is as contemporary as it gets. I also don't get the hype about it 🀷. Maybe it's sentimental to some?

It's a cute coming-of-age story though. Liked both characters too.

Solid read. The only problem was how predictable the coincidences or plot was. Dresden was not I expected him to be.

3.5/5 Stars.

I saw people complaining about the sexism part of the book but come on. We'd be criticizing the books of now in 20 years from now. Art grows and we grow w it. So we shouldn't be so hard-nosed on everything.

Didn't expect the MC to be so realistic. I got the vibe he'd grumpy, competent, haughty and Sherlock Holmes kinda guy. Good thing my assumptions were just assumptions.

Alright novel and I didn't expect it to be great. 2000s feel all the way through. For some reason, I expected the tone to be like NBC kinda tone but it is darker than that.

Sense 8 vibes all the way but on grander scale. Trust Jemisin to twist ideas and present them original in her own way.

Not strong as The Fifth Season but a good read nonetheless.

Oh my goodness! Jemisin aimed to befuddle the readers and had succeeded at that πŸ’―πŸ˜‚. From the prologue to at least 4 or 5 chapters I felt I was reading about a dream in novel format.

I like that. She doesn't try to spoon-feed the readers πŸ‘

A good short read. Liked the audiobook narration and the prose a lot even though it's not what it is it implies.

Nailed generational stages about trauma, systems, relationships, sexual identity, opinions etc. And for this too I enjoyed it. Not mind-blowing but okay.

Good prose but nothing as dark/fucked up as I thought was led to believe in chapter 1 is happening.

Nothing. But man, this book has a great prose that just gives off edgy unflinching narrative.

The characters aren't it, especially Clem. They moved from point A to B to C to Z. That's not how character progression w the storyline works.

Weird pacing, insta-love that 2 involved are soulmates less than a week πŸ’€. A God meddling in human affairs like a petty handler and weak ass magic.

Why do YAs always excel at the first half and get crazy on the second half.

Tbh I thought this was between YA and adult πŸ₯΄.

Good aesthetic overall but nothing else 🫀

The first one hundred pages had me hooked. Unfortunately, the MC feels out of place in the narrative. Nobody remains gullible after the shit she went through.

The setting/plot is creative NGL but the characters feel so out of place with the plot. Like how they react and think

Great dialogues but can be tedious with it. It's alright so
far but I think the series is overhyped AF πŸ’―. But it's
definitely better than the show in terms of character
dynamics and storytelling.

I gotta give it Sapkowski prowess in doing everything
through dialogues though.
