The chapter Prison is something I wish I could make everyone read. It not only demonstrates the core international crimes of the Israeli government and its occupation, but captures the strength of resistance in even the most restricted of times. Existence is hope. Laughter is resistance. Education breaks the shackles of oppression.

I don’t know why I have had this for years but just opened it now, but this is the Bible of modern revolutionaries and our movements.

Never before have I felt so seen. I had been putting off reading this because I knew I could only experience reading it for the first time once, but I’m so glad I waited until now — years of mistakes, reflections, learning experiences, and beginning therapy — when I can see and acknowledge that I am someone who experiences the world through the eyes of depression. Someone who finds bad vibes within everything.

I will probably reread this book a million times over. The Tamimi family is the greatest demonstration of love and strength. Ahed’s description of her mentality surviving prison speaks to the passion and strength we should all find within ourselves to live our life to our fullest.

There are so many people I wish I could make listen to this section of the book, where Ahed explains the entire journey of her prison experience and the every day horrors of being in Israeli detention as a 16 year old.

Listening to Ahed describe her experience in the arrest and detention we followed from around the world is captivating. I feel her heart of fire and her commitment to defying injustice that bursts through her soul. Teenage Ahed is the real-life Katniss. I am in awe of her fortitude, intelligence, and pure grit.

Reading this at this time is almost easier, than the heartbreak I felt before. Things are so much worse, but the levels of the brave lioness and the lions will live on, as their youth and determinance will bring anger enough to spark peace.

Listening to this story told by my hero Dena Takruri is so worth it, even if I’m not an audiobook kinda gal!

I was literally reading this while traveling 4 hours to go to a protest for Palestine frankly was preparing to go to school for International Humanitarian Law but had my doubts of its effectiveness if I truly want to help others, and the past month and reading your book has made me realize I should pursue another path that is more directly involved - whatever that may be!

This has been so eye-opening + informational

This book is absolutely incredible, every single paragraph I find myself thinking, “NO WAY! This is REAL?!” I have underlined and highlighted so many sections for research and memorization.

I went into this thinking it would be my chill ‘wind-down’ book for the evening that wouldn’t cause me to annotate like crazy and spiral into other threads I want to research…And I am so delighted it’s the opposite!
