Okay so now I can’t out this down because the plot has thickened and I’m hooked

Chapter 14 and 15: major focus on allowing yourself to feel and controlling your response to the feeling. It also hits really hard on the idea that people need to stand on their own sometimes and make the decision, even when they wish someone would do it for them.

Lots of really good concepts in here that encourage some deep thought about how to connect with people more fully

Chapter 9: Quotes I found particularly moving

“Sometimes the people we thought least able to take care of themselves can do so successfully when we stop taking care of them.”

“People pleasers can’t be trusted, they lie. And as caretakers, they don’t take care of themselves.”

I guess I’m into the audiobook self help scene right now…anyways, the fourth chapter lists traits of codependent people and it’s like a completely different concept than I thought and more so focused on people pleasing than one’s own needs. Anyways I feel called out regardless so that’s fun…stay tuned

Interesting information about adult friendship in here- kinda stuff people just don’t tell you when you start out into the world

Really glad my therapist recommended this to me, everyone needs to hear this. Should be something that all young adults HAVE to read.
