still trying to figure out whether the sexism (here referring to the reduction of ALL women, at all times as nothing more than a sex object) bothers me enough to abandon the interesting lore, the dog, or the widow.

so far: i have nobody to root for and the only reason im reading this is as a favor for a friend but GOD it’s dark. super not my type of book but ill try to finish. if anything else i love the little puck illustrations.

i am part obsessed and partly reading with my hands over my eyes.
i can’t tell who i am supposed to be loving and who im supposed to be loathing…. i think that means this is a fabulous book. i just. gwen is so painfully real to the middle school me who was so pretentious but so scared and art is just. he’s just. so. him. and it hurts to read him.

I have now cried twice (IN THE MIDDLE OF CLASS) because of this book. Valarie Kaur can see straight through my soul and is literally changing my life as I read.
