Reading the Smollett's and Grossman's versions parallelly to figure out which translation is better.

It's such a pain to get through BOOK 1 cause the last chapter just goes on forever. And I don't usually resort to audiobooks but in this case I had to....till now my rating is still pretty low but I'm hoping that the plot thickens and the character development is finally evident starting BOOK 2.

Donna's way of writing is impeccable so far.
“And if beauty is terror,” said Julian, “then what is desire? We think we have many desires, but in fact we have only one. What is it?”
“To live,” said Camilla.
“To live forever,” said Bunny, chin cupped in palm.
The teakettle began to whistle.

A lot could've been saved if only Frankenstein hadn't abandoned his own creation and then continued to be the one who's in continuous anguish and dread throughout the whole book.

Buddy reading this with someone. I have very high expectations from this book, let's see.

The translation is actually good.

Thrifted this book ages ago and I finally decided to pick it up.

Oh I'm absolutely going to devour this novel and love every single bit of it.

Very heavy subject matter on this one. The translation lacks some aspects, i believe because I know that German would've been so much better if I understood it on that level. I'm still reading through the chapters and trying to grasp the way Hegel thought. Finding it quite challenging but at the same time I'm enjoying it as well because a bit of existential dread never harms.

Testing my patience by reading Proust.
