I so appreciate the effort that translator Emily Wilson took to provide immense insight, depth and detail into the cultural and historical context of The Iliad before jumping into the first book, as well as sharing her own approach to translating and personal attachment to the work.

Haven’t read this in several years. For all the wrong reasons this seemed to be a good time to reread this (I’m either about to find catharsis or I’m going to spiral.)
