Why is everyone acting like being 22 years old and unmarried in 1842 was spinsterhood? 😂 People DID NOT consider women to be spinsters until much later. Being 22 and unmarried in the middle class was normal. Honestly, if someone calls Elena a matron again I’ll consider DNFing because WHAT?!!

Jane Austen most definitely had a glorious sense of humour! She was about thirteen when she wrote this (showcased in the misspelling of "freindship").
