Also, just a note to say that I appreciate a woman with strong arms and I appreciate that the author shares this appreciation. I'm looking forward to some heaving bosoms and all that (eeks, please don't call say bosom), but the focus on all the other shapes of a person's body is very sexy.

Surprising betrayal!! I wanted to read more books in 2019. I picked this one up before lunch January 1st and hours later I still can't put it down.

I volunteer at the library so they waive my fines. I'm invoking that privilege because I'm not ready to return this unread. I like the author's voice.

I don't really know anything about Britpop. That would be helpful.

I just took Catcher in the Rye off my to-read list. Hah! Take that dead white guy. I don't even care if it's an irreplaceable part of the American youth experience that perfectly captures the voice of an age or something. I'm just not going to read it because I can make independent choices about the media I consume. ...This has been weighing on me. The guilt of ignorance or something. No more.

I holed up in the library until I finished the first so that I could return it and start on the next immediately. I've actually managed to suspend sleep so as to read it. I expect this might be a series I'll be embarrassed to have loved after a feminist critique or something but right now I'm enthralled.

Eeps. I chose the presumed fastest read of four amazing holds that came in. I'm hopeful about this series.

Visceral. That's a good word for it. I'm disturbed by the inclusion of Lindsay Lohan on a page without text. I can't tell if it's a dig at her or at the industry for trying to bring her down... but it seems paternalizing... cruel... I'm gonna take a break.

This was a definite, oh look at the pretty cover on the new books shelf, hey she's that, did you know I met her dad once? oh it's poetry! kind of book pickup, but it looks swell.

Yeah. This is a really great monster design and I wouldn't put it down except sleep. :(

So this is great but all of my books are in this fussy old-fashioned language right now and it's grating on me but I'm running into a return deadline so I'm gonna read this book by an author I love even though I'm not strictly in the mood.

Welp. I read the first one before it became a Rob Thomas series and I thought now that I've finished the season I'd give it another shot. But much as I've got issues with that not-as-good-as-Veronica-Mars-but-good-enough-to-keep-watching show, this... I dunno. Good chance I'll abandon it. Also again THE BOOBS WHAT IS UP WITH THE BOOBS?!?

This is the cutest book ever. I really like the dynamic. Nimona's spunky and great but Blackheart's no dumb-dad stereotype like I feared.

I'm not sure I can deal with this level of pretension for another seven hundred pages but it is engaging and engrossing in the depth of its description. Ehhhh.
