I like the main characters and the ideas this book has but the changing perspectives are CONSTANTLY hamstringing my reading experience lol.

Every woman in this book exists in service of this one character and it’s not subtle

Ah yes, tale old as time, princess conceals her identity, takes up prostitution, lives in filth, beats and denigrates her son, all because the Royal mantle is beneath her attentions.

Is it insane if the elephant patriarchy is the thing that makes me DNF? I feel like everyone knows this about elephants. Why even include it in your book if you haven’t done any elephant research.

It truly speaks to the tone, research, and attitude of this author that he is not aware elephants are matriarchal
