This book is changing my inner monologue, for better or for worse. Even though I now think with Batuman's voice, my thoughts seem to lack her propulsive self-reflexivity, in absence of the ability to constantly engage with literary theory. Instead, I think hollowly about the mathematical exercises I have yet to do, the similarities between my exes and Ivan, and whether I will start to learn Russian again.

OK GUYS UPDATE ON PROCRASTINATING FOR TRIALS

so i bought this book off amazon for $3.99 just now cos interest rates have been INSANE lately (inflation moment) — i literally deposited $55 into the bank last month and i got $4.30 credit interest and $4.39 bonus interest (from the youthsaver program i think)... has anyone had a similar experience? I'm with commbank btw xx

- surprisingly good & detailed navigation process, author obvsly knows what he's talking about
- foreshadowed romance with a recruit who is trying to seduce him :flushed: SO WILD?!?!?

- graham needs more authority (it must be hard to exert authority in such an undisciplined environment though - poor guy. really feel for him cos i am an empath).
- ^ managing expectations is clearly his biggest flaw & introduced early on; looking forward to seeing character growth
