Just listening to this when I need a break from listening to the same 5 to 7 podcast guys talking about the exact same thing with slightly different words

I am on page 6 of your book and have already marked four of your claims as fanciful and deserving of further research. why do you have a "further reading" section at the back of your book and not a "books I actually read that are reliable source of information" section. was it because you did not ready any? Diane?

rereading with better critical thinking skills. my last experience with Diane Ackerman was that she just *says* things sometimes. I'm on page 2 of the intro and she asserts that Masai women use excrement in their hair and would find peppermint as a breath freshener bizarre. the hair thing seems like an easy fact to confirm but she's the only one saying it. is she thinking of.. clay? DIANE??

2nd reading - I've defended this book a lot over the years but I haven't read it in a long time.. time to see if I agree with myself.

I've hated everything I've attempted to read lately so now I'm going to reread a book that I know I loved but remember NOTHING about.

The first audiobook version I listened to was read by Donada Peters and I hated what her voice did to my favorite book. This time I'm listening to one narrated by Sarita Choudhury.

I'm finding the vocabulary in this book very strange. Some unusual terms are casually thrown into otherwise typical language, and then the same person will say "doggo". I am skeptical.

I *just* finished Luster by Raven Leilani and had almost started my quest for the next book to read, when the mailman knocked on my door and presented to me my copy of this book. I'm very excited!!

The audiobook narrator mispronounces common restaurant terms like pho and staging and I find that to be a bit of a bummer.

I am barely past the introduction and have already had enough holy-shit moments to scare me in the best way. I am about to learn a LOT.

listening to the audiobook. not entirely sure why. there’s not much for me in music industry stories by famous white men but Bruuuuce is so compelling. Bruuuuuuuuce.
