Am I going crazy or are these commas in the wrong place??? “The enormous metal doors on the far side, the primary entrance, where hundreds if not thousands of school-age children entered once upon a time, are of course closed, but streaks of soot or grease from the aged machinery leak from the top, in a slow race to the bottom of the now dull surface.”

A very tough and triggering read so far but I’m soldiering through for now
