Probably the most engaging biography I’ve ever read. Super challenging in my own growth as well.

Still crazy engaging

A recent quote that stood out to me, “He took our body, + not only so, He took it directly from a spotless, stainless virgin without the agency of human father-a pure body, untainted by intercourse with man. He, the mighty one, the artificer of all, Himself prepared this body in the virgin as a temple for Himself, and took it for His very own, as the instrument through which He was known + in which He dwelt.”

I’m pretty hooked so far. It’s been a long time since I picked up a fantasy book and got this invested.

9 year old: 1-3 stars so far. Just doesn’t have a very good story. I know this is kind of a CS Lewis reference but it’s just about a horse and his boy.

7 year old: 4 stars so far. I like it because it’s about a horse. It’s just a good story board. It’s about a boy that can’t talk and he takes care of this horse.

I’m loving this tremendously. Janie is beautiful. The writing is immaculate.

Figured since this is the year of Bonhoeffer, I’d go ahead and reread this too.

Admittedly hit a bit of a lull there with a lot of philosophy that I didn’t quite understand woven within the plot but we’re getting there! Truly incredibly written.

“Once a man has experienced the mercy of God in his life he will henceforth aspire only to serve. The proud throne of the judge no longer lures him; he wants to be down below with the lowly and needy, because that is where God found him.”

So far so good. Not dying to pick it up and read (excuse the pun) but do tend to get lost in it once I get going!

Bonhoeffer casually destroying my life again.

“He who loves his dream of a community more than the Christian community itself becomes a destroyer of the latter, even though his personal intentions may be ever so honest and earnest and sacrificial.”

Something would have to go terribly wrong for this not to be a 5 star read ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ok, Heathcliff is even worse. This is brutal.

I truly don’t know if I’ve ever encountered a character quite like Catherine 🥴

I’m obsessed so far. Beautiful story. The writing is exquisite.
