The author, an Israeli and a Zionist, clearly lets his biases leak into his framing of certain moral concepts. The oft use of the politically charged term ‘middle east’ even when referring to a pre colonial world is also off putting. I’ve been enjoying the book, but I am cautious about how his narrative (this book is a narrative story above all) may frame the more recent eras of human history.

I’m probably going to abandon this, it’s not a bad book but it could have been an essay and the excessive swearing and oversimplifications quickly become obnoxious

I am really enjoying this book
