It's hilarious that this book assumes you know how to do cables and colour work but has to hold your hand through the most vanilla sock ever included cast on. I know it's common in craft books but does it make sense? I've knit several socks but I'm on my first colour work project...

I struggle with this one too. This book reads a lot like articles in fashion magazines. Also, the interview about Basquiat was pretty tough for me to read through. Chapters don't feel rounded, with some I struggle to see the main point.

A rectangular plate only turns into a problem of placement when the table is round... I got too many thoughts and I still don't feel more wise.

How much of a smoker must one be to mention the word ashtray more than 5 times in a two page essay filled with nonsense design ideas?

About the car bodies: 50 years later and we still don't use plastic car bodies (and the Trabbi went out of production shortly after reunification). The graphic design chapter wasn't great. And I struggled with the traditional Japanese house chapter (if they're so superior why do they get abandoned so much?).

Enjoyed it so far. One feels that this was written 50 years ago but it's still somewhat true. However, about the essay "Living Language": a blacksmith doesn't show horses, that's a farrier. And the horse usually isn't tied up inside the shop but outside. Country kids will notice.

I expect from Claire Keegan's stories that they hurt at least a little bit. Well, the knife has been turned

Coming to terms with the fact that the German title of this book doesn't work. The English title "Off the map" makes so much more sense than the German "The strangest places of the world". This book is more about places not found on maps. The tagline is the same though.

How am I 4 pages into the first section and already questioning if I really want to read this book? It might be the translation but ... The chapter headline is about an island off the shore of Queensland and we're suddenly jumping to Hawaii and Quebec with very little transitions back and forth?All islands that never existed in a section about lost places? I'm a bit confused.

Don't try to get through this when you're struggling with brain fog.
