hard to get through but simultaneously fascinating.

one basic pt so far so i dont forget it:
- theres a Basic Body Plan (Hox genes). A few duplication events happened of most of the genome in different lineages leading to vertebrates have four? Hox genes and other taxa having less.
- almost all evolution happens in reg genes/switches which tell each Hox gene to activate in diff places. copy then modify!

reading this so I can better argue against it to my suitemates (maybe it'll change my mind tho)
