Baby’s first book club book! I love a folktale, I sure do.

shout out maura for the rec, this is actually one of those pieces of art that makes me excited to keep living and reading and absorbing from beautiful bizarre minds.

Well I’ll be darned, read half the book last evening because I couldn’t stop thinking about Frankl’s theories about the soul and humankind.

“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms- to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way”.

Courage to change the things we can, and wisdom to know what we cannot, god damn.

hey so i’m 30 pages in and have already cried a few times and/or have had a sentence stop me dead in my tracks, force me to look up at the trees or sky, and pause to think about how beautiful vuong’s writing is. this is the real deal, a book that makes me want to stay alive to keep reading. words arranged that beautifully to tell a story make me want to wake up another day. art is sick like that.
