when i read the premise, i knew that there will be mention of wèi ān fù/wianbu, but nothing will ever prepare me to read about them. this book should begin with serious content warning.

how did i, as a 20-21 yr old, conduct research on the 1990s movement and activism…i will never know. even now, a hollow pit opens up in my stomach when i encounter anything related to the wianso. i can’t stop crying.

i'm currently bouncing between theory, so please don't judge my long list of currently reading books.

am i just stupid or is this book incredibly difficult to get through? it’s taking me so much time to get through the maze of words, even as the arguments and ideas presented are important for my research…

might have to dnf.

amidst all the reading and writing for my PhD thesis, (often trashy) fantasy novels have been a source of breaks. but i'll update my PhD reading list soon. it's just that most of the subject matter is so heavy (and often leaves me feeling hopeless) that i find myself unable to finish reading the academic/theoretical books. hence, they continue to be in my currently reading or tbr.
