The author is a beautiful wordsmith. His descriptions of air, temperature, birds in flight, emotions, etc. are inspired. Unfortunately I just could not get invested in the minutia of the Irish Parish and the folks that inhabit it. I quit about halfway through.

If you like puzzling reads, this book is for you. I read many reviews on this after I finished it. They were all many paragraphs long, trying to explain why they liked it. No one was succinct. I guess that’s because it’s such a unique book. Goodreads gives it a 4.29. I think you need to be a certain type of reader to get this book.

DNF... didn’t like the format, although the repartee was funny.

Couldn't finish it....uninteresting, common writing, dreadful pace for a spy story. Page 51 and I couldn't stop yawning.
