Half of the characters in this are just sociopaths: Martin Lomax doesn't get why people watch movies and Bogdan doesn't understand why people fear death. Previous book's villains were very similar.

Also as a Pole, the author's idea of Polish people contained in the character of Bogdan is funny but lowkey offensive. It's clear he's never spoken to one, that's for sure.

I get what this book is about and the time period it's set in... but I wish they'd cool it with the n-word, it's so jarring
