This book reads like an old black-and-white movie. It's extremely dialog-heavy. Every scene is just wall-to-wall conversations and lengthy exposition. Lots of telling, very little showing. I'm finding it a little difficult to get into.

Similar to Tomie, most of its really good ideas are in the first half or so, but I still enjoyed the whole thing. Some of the imagery is really striking to the point that it feels like it's burned into my brain lol. I look forward to reading more Junji Ito works in the future.

I'm not that far in, but I already really like the vibe of this one.

I liked Gyo, but Tomie is undoubtedly a stronger concept. I enjoyed it quite a bit, though I do think it's probably about 5 or 6 volumes too long. The premise is stretched to its absolute limits (and beyond) and so it becomes quite repetitive after a while. There's only so much you can do without developing the idea beyond its initial scope, but the stories never really do that. Still, I really liked this.
