I cannot seem to put this book down . So far it’s really, really good!

My thought so far:
I love the idea behind the book and I appreciate the philosophical elements to the story.
However, I don’t feel like Kuang has fully committed to the scenery of Hell and its courts. Why this setting if it’s not gonna be properly used?

I’m also quite sick of Alice and her distrust towards just about everyone. We get it, you scheme in a pursuit to stay on top

Thoughts so far:
Ferguson writes about different kinds of feminist movements throughout history and both praise and criticise these movements in a very interesting and pedagogic way.

My criticism so far?
That Ferguson differentiate between the UK/Britain and Europe.
In one paragraf she writes about “Britain, Europe and Asia”, like the UK isn’t part of Europe

I have not read this before and I don’t know how it was perceived about 35 years ago when it was release — but I’m still pretty sure it has not aged well.
Or was it seen as problematic, bak then, that a 45-year old professor had sect with a 24-year-old student, who’s not even described as a person but rather a body who also happens to be overly ambitious?

I was supposed to study but I chose to pick up this book think “I can read a little, and then I pick up school work again”.
The next thing I know, I’ve read 86 pages and I want to keep reading it.

As a The Office-fan, I really appreciate the cringe, absurd humour. Everything June goes through is basically a Michael Scott-story 😂
