fuck this book is so fucking good i cannot put it down. and when i do put it down, all i look forward to is picking it back up again

okay chapter 12 is shaping out to be super important— lots of new information and things taking shape.
it’s all going to play out later for sure

Another thought I have… what if Carrion is behind the rot?? since the first book, it has bothered me that his name, Carrion, literally means “decaying flesh”… And now there’s a rot spreading that appears to be connected to Zilveran!?
Something has been off about him in this book — and all of the last book we didn’t know who he truly was until the end; he was hiding his true identity the entire time.

Okay so there’s a new rot spreading, and recently Edina (fishers mom) spoke to Saeris and told her to find a book to stop the rot, and she told Saeris not to tell “him” about it. Saeris thinks Edina meant not to tell Fisher, so she told Taladaius about it.
But what if Tal is the bad guy here?? Ren doesn’t trust Tal and there’s something we don’t know… What if Tal is behind the rot?

glad i’m doing a re-read of this. it’s SO good.
noting here that chapters 22 and 23 are so important (and also so good) … lots of things mentioned and said there that i feel are going to play into Brimstone

chapter 5 was beautifully written…

i knew that the prince of shadows was talemir, prince of hearts!! (duhhh)
i also have a feeling he’s Thea, Wren and Anyas father… in the moment thea met him, she describes his features as Delmirian — like her — and then says she met his green eyes with her own. Sounds like they have similar backgrounds and features. but then would anya have known he’s their father since she’s known him this whole time?

i was reading her last trial of the great rite, where her lightening and thunder magic comes back to her, and it’s currently storming rain in TN and there was actual thunder and lightening booming outside my windows as i read it. it really felt like i was there in it haha it was perfect

i’m just not sure of their motives there…

okay i don’t know if thea is the daughter of darkness, or of Wren is …
But it would make sense that Wren is, because she hid their powers from Thea because “she wasn’t ready”, and is trying to convince her to take their throne back?? And Audra is in on it, because she is always with Wren and tells Thea she has to choose between being a magic wielder or a warsword.

i really just want to be done with this book lol

I literally cannot put this book down…
It’s a dose of childhood nostalgia, with adult romance… it literally makes my heart throb.

It’s refreshing to read a fiction after so many fantasy books… I’m really enjoying how “human” the characters are, and love that I can relate to the anticipation and emotions and unknowns. It feels real.

I am dying to find out what Percy did that broke Sam’s heart…

chapter ten had SO MUCH important context in it. needed to note that it’s a big chapter

page 257 (chapter 20)
isbeth is implying that Poppy is a primal god.

“I never would have known that a Primal could be born to the mortal realm… (The Fates) made sure that a spark was left—a chance for rebirth of the greatest powers. An ember of primal life that could only ignite in the female lineage of the Primal of Life.”

so Ian’s dad,Leopoldo, was a vikter?!
wonder what that made him…
and we also found out that Viktor was a vikter for Poppy through him showing up to Tawney

i just had a thought about the rot that’s spreading:
if her power is bringing things that are dead back to life, couldn’t she bring the dead land touched by rot back to life? it wouldn’t solve the weather, but perhaps the food?
even if her marrying the primal of death doesn’t solve the Rot problem … perhaps she is still the answer and doesn’t realize it yet.

okay chapter 41 page 539 - 541 is super important.
“the moment my demands left my mouth, my entire body seized with dread. he was most certainly going to kill me now, shared blood or not. But he smiled. ‘You’re so much like her.’ He laughed. ‘She will be thrilled to learn this.’ My shoulders tightened. ‘Who?’”
YES, WHO?
Could it be the silver haired woman that keeps coming to Poppy in her dreams.
