Aristotle defines temperance, which is the right attitude towards physical pleasures.
Being liscentious is gearing towards physical pleasures in the wrong way, with the wrong attitude and/or in excess.
Being liscentious is more reprehensible than being a coward, as the cure to cowardice can involve danger whereas the cure to licentiousness is simply moderation and control, which involves no danger to the subject.
